Supervisory Park Ranger

This position serves as the Supervisory Park Ranger for the Canyon County District's Monticello Field office. The incumbent directs the on-the-ground resources that focus on recreation and recreational impacts to other resources. Major duties include but are not limited to:
o Responsible for the full supervision of career-seasonal and temporary seasonal subordinate employees, including those at remote ranger stations. o Responsible for communication and coordination between ranger station and field office staff. o Directs the work of youth crews and volunteer groups. o Manages the on-ground resources within the Monticello Field Office including travel management on lands, trails and roads; and dispersed recreation uses with a strong emphasis on natural resource protection and mitigation of impacts from recreation uses.o Assists outdoor recreation planners with planning and implementation efforts.o Assist with law enforcement investigations as requested.o Coordinates the Wilderness Study Area monitoring program.o Coordinates assistance to the Special Recreation Permit Program through event monitoring and compliance checks Wearing of the authorized BLM uniform is required during field work, and weekend work will also be required. Physical Demands:
Work occurs both in a typical office setting and in the field. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. Work may include walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving automobiles. Field work may require the use of safety rafts, canoes, kayaks, mountain bikes or ATVs. Work Environment:
Office work is conducted in a typical office setting where temperatures are mechanically controlled. Field work involves working in isolated areas, sometimes alone. high altitudes, adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and rugged terrain make fieldwork difficult at times. Specialized Experience requirement:
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. This experience must also be documented in your resume.In addition to the time-in-grade requirements, to qualify at the GS-09 level you must meet one of the following:

Experience:
Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Park Ranger. Specialized experience includes acting in a supervisory and/or leadership role in a recreation center setting; reviews and applies recreational policy, regulatory compliance and application; develops and/or implements travel management planning; writes and reviews business plans related to recreation activities; inspects and/or monitors compliance of recreation permits; and processes special recreation permit applications. OR Education:
To qualify based on education you must have 36 semester hours of graduate-level education leading to a master's degree in a directly related field. OR Combination of graduate education and
Experience:
Applicants may also use an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above. Only graduate level education in excess of 18 semester hours of may be combined with experience. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
