Native American Coordinator

This position serves as the Native American Coordinator for the Monticello Field Office, including the Bears Ears National Monument. The position will focus on the completion of Native American consultation for individual projects as required, coordination of monthly informational gathering meetings held between the BLM and the Native American Tribes, formally nominating Traditional Cultural Properties to the National Register, and offering technical assistance to assure that decisions and actions taken by the Bureau comply with all Laws, Regulations, and Acts related to Native American Tribes. Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Serves as advisor to the Monument/Field/District Manager, Leadership Team, and program staffs in all decisions involving Native American Tribes, groups, organizations, or individuals. Provides guidance and coordination in initiating, planning and facilitating consultation, collaboration, and dispute resolution options with Native American Tribes, assuring that those who might be affected have sufficient opportunity for productive participation in the BLM processes. Coordinates, administers, and leads Tribal Coordination meetings. Provides technical assistance to field personnel on Native American Tribal issues including economic development or support, eco-tourism, cultural and religious practice, and consultation issues associated with Bureau lands and resources. Physical demands:
The incumbent will spend time in an office environment and in travel status to Native American communities and in the field. Physical capabilities are required to visit and conduct consultation efforts in the field, as well as participate in fire activities as mutually determined by the supervisor and incumbent. Work is in an office setting and in the field. Travel will be to communities within the region, including Native American communities and reservations, as well as to specific sites and projects in the field. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. This experience must also be documented in your resume. In addition to the time-in-grade requirements, to qualify at the GS-11 level you must meet one of the following:

Experience:
Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Native American Coordinator. Specialized experience includes; experience with analysis, interpretation, and application of Bureau programs involving tribal governments; coordinating Tribal Coordination meetings; and communicating technical and/or non-technical information to a diverse audience; OR Education:
To qualify based on education you must have 54 semester hours of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a directly related field of study. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
