Park Ranger

This position serves as a Park Ranger for the Canyon Country Monticello Field Office. Major duties include but are not limited to:
Assists with managing Special Recreation Permits (SRP's), issuing permits, providing information, and assigning campsites. Conducting patrols and monitoring visitor use activities in the field and campgrounds. Gathering and analyzing data related to recreation resources to recognize prominent trends. Presenting a positive image of the BLM and conducting visitor contact in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner. Developing interpretative programs and presenting interpretative information to the public. Oversee fee collection activities, maintain fee accounting records, and submitting deposits. Maintain records for the SRP program; plan and coordinate monitoring, document permit and stipulations compliance and coordinate suspected SRP violation response. Prepare correspondence, issue bills and annual authorizations for SRPs. Assist with fee collection activities, maintain fee accounting records, and submitting deposits. Wearing of the authorized BLM uniform is required during field work, and weekend work will also be required. Physical Demands:
The work is performed mostly outdoors in rugged terrain; to include very steep, wet, muddy, rough, uneven or rocky surfaces. The position requires physical exertion such as, but not limited to, driving over unpaved roads, walking over rough terrain or inclines, standing for long periods of time, bending, crouching and stooping, digging, hiking, lifting, biking, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Work may involve early morning hours, night hours, or daytime hours and may require working on holidays. It can require carrying heavy backpacks, tools, rescue equipment, or other loads.Work Environment:
Most work will be performed out of doors, in all types of weather conditions, terrain, and elevations. Work may take place in an extremely remote environment and may require primitive camping and living skills for upwards of two weeks in duration. Indoor duties are performed in a normal office setting. Selective Placement Factors:

Experience:
In addition to the Selective Placement Factors, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. This experience must also be documented in your resume. In addition to the time-in-grade and selective factor requirements, to qualify at the GS-05 level you must meet one of the following:
Specialized
Experience:
Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of a Park Ranger. Experience may have been in technical, administrative, or scientific work, fish and wildlife management, recreation management, law enforcement, or other park-related work. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
working in as a park guide or tour leader; law enforcement or investigative work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area; management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations. OR Education:
To qualify based on education you must have 4-year course study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with 24 semester hours of related course work. OR Combination of graduate education and
Experience:
Applicants may also use an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above. Transcripts must be provided with your application packet. In addition to the time-in-grade and selective factor requirements, to qualify at the GS-07 level you must meet one of the following:

Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of a Park Ranger. Experience may have been in technical, administrative, or scientific work, fish and wildlife management, recreation management, law enforcement, or other park-related work. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
working in as a park guide or tour leader; law enforcement or investigative work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area; management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations. OR Education:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
